Trust us when we say, every administrator in the district is monitoring the social media sites during the strike.
Is John Dewey Is Not Dead connected to Corruption Busters? (10/26)
No. John Dewey Is Not Dead is not connected to the investigative web site, Corruption Busters.
It is very intersting how the current labor situation has given rise to multiple social media sites dedicated to focusing on the Waukegan School District labor impasse. John Dewey is one such site. So are the Facebook pages run by Waukegan Parents-Teachers United and the Waukegan Teachers Council.
However, Corruption Busters has been around much longer than the current labor situation and has tackled a number of other questionable financial arrangements involving a wide range of governmental bodies.
It is probably true to say that John Dewey is Not Dead and Corruption Busters share a respect for effective, efficient and honest govenrment and seek to bring reform to Waukegan School District 60. Is John Dewey Is Not Dead part of the Waukegan Teacher's Council? (10/20)
Absolutely not. While John Dewey is supportive of the teacher's position in the CURRENT situation, shares a desire for reform of Lincoln Center and holds the same passion for providing a quality education for every student in Waukegan Public Schools, John Dewey is a separate entity. The views expressed here are those of John Dewey, a group of independent-minded teachers and administrators within Waukegan Public Schools.
Why use a pseudonym? (10/16)
Two reasons lead us to use a pseudonym. First, John Dewey is not one person, but rather a small group of like-minded individuals. We are teachers and administrators of Waukegan Public Schools that stand in silent solidarity with our parents, students and teachers during the current labor situation. Secondly, because of our positions, we fear retaliation from Lincoln Center. They can be a vindictive bunch as witnessed by the termination of health insurance of thousands of employees. Simply look at what they have done to the teachers. parents and students. The Board President shut down a fourth grader that was speaking during public comment. So, given our current position(s), we must remain, "hidden."
There is however, a tremendous power within our group. We have insight into the district's operations, experience with the waste and inefficiency of the district and first hand knowledge of leadership styles. With knowledge comes power!
